Joel Christner

Mr. Christner has been in technology for over 25 years, helping established companies advance emerging technologies, building startups from the ground up to a successful outcome, and investing in and advising startups. As a director and distinguished engineer at Dell Technologies within the Office of the CTO, Mr. Christner is responsible for leading research and development for data management, distributed systems, and as-a-service technologies, with a focus on technologies that are five or more years ahead on the horizon. As chair for SNIA's DNA data storage Rosetta Stone project, Mr. Christner is responsible for organizing and defining the direction of the group to advance DNA data storage as a media category, specifically in its aim to have a standards-based framework in which DNA archives can be consumed. Prior, Mr. Christner has served in a leadership capacity in a number of successful technology startups in addition to established companies including Cisco Systems. Mr. Christner holds an MS Computer Science from Columbia University in the City of New York.
